The Commission of Death

At the Fan Appreciation Con last weekend, I also drew up a commission of Death, from the Neil Gaiman “Sandman” comic.

I wasn’t too recently familiar with this character, but was provided with some excellent Chris Bachalo sketches to start with, and went from there. Here’s the inked version, and below that some short video snippets my daughter took, of the pencils & inks.

    HI,
    Thanks for sharing the video… I was about to ask about your inking tools for Death and then the video answered it all.

    Hi Don, you’re welcome, yes as you spotted, it’s a Pentel Color Brush–those synthetic brush-pens..but even though it has plastic hairs, it’s a real brush and inks really well. I just dip it in india ink (don’t like the ink in the cartridge which comes with it, it’s too smeary).
